Driving Assessment & Rehabilitation

An Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment can help determine if injury, illness or the aging process is affecting your driving.

We need:

  • A referral letter from your GP or other health professional

  • A recent Optometrist/ Ophthalmologist report

If an OT Driving Assessment is appropriate for you, we will screen you for physical, cognitive and experiential factors that might influence your safe driving ability. We usually do this at your home in about one and a half hours.

We then assess your driving in a real-life situation. You drive a dual-controlled car with a driving instructor and OT Driving Assessor for about an hour. The driving instructor will give you directions and instructions to follow, and the OT will assess your practical application of driving skills and knowledge.
